Meet Your Provider: Betsy Dykeman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CME

Elizabeth (Betsy) Dykeman MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CME is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. After graduating with a registered nurse diploma from Barnes College School of Nursing in 1987, Betsy remained at Barnes-Jewish Hospital for over 35 years.

Dykeman worked in the Surgical Burn Trauma ICU holding a variety of roles including bedside nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, and nurse educator for more than 25 years.

As a member of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT), Betsy was deployed to Washington Hospital Center in October 2021 to care for burn victims from the September 11 Pentagon attack.

During her last few years at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, she worked in the Women and Infants division as the nurse educator. It was at that time that she was introduced to the incredible deficits in outpatient care. Thus, she began her journey to become a nurse practitioner to try to help fill a gap in the community.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, Dykeman worked in the Telemedicine ICU where she remotely assisted bedside staff caring for critically ill patients in ICUs across the entire BJC health system.

Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she has been working as a family care provider at CVS MinuteClinic throughout St. Louis.

Dykeman is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She has met the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) eligibility requirements and has successfully passed her CCRN examination.

Dykeman completed training and testing on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) physical qualifications standards and guidelines and effectively determines if interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers meet those Department of Transportation physical requirements.
